>Katrina victims struggle to Rebuild

Katrina Victims Struggle to Rebuild

Louisianna and Alabama

Victims of the hurricane Katrina struggle to rebuild their homes. Some of them have moved back to their hometowns and resumed their jobs but in some cases they still have to take care of water damage in their houses and their favorite businesses are no more.

Our Jlander friend Sunnyside46 describes much of this grief and pathos in her own journal Midlife Musings.

Marti is a wonderful friend who misses her old hauntings, thier favorite restaurants, etc. are gone. She has frie who have lost everything.

I have also met people from Louisiana who are struggling to rebuild.

As we enter the new year Dianna reminded me

(Sazzylilsmartazz) that we should extend compassion and care to these Americans.I hope that Habitat for Humanity will help them a lot in the coming years.

thanks for your friendship, Nat. It means a lot.
We are much better off than lots of people down here.
I still have trouble comprehending the whole thing. There are areas that look like a third world country that used to be homes, buildings, lives....
Anyway, we are cruising along....life is good.
Love,
Marti

Nat
Thanks for this entry.  my sister and brother-in-law live in Slidell, Lousianna.  They have such great water damage that the slab will stay, but most of the house has to be totally rebuilt.  They were fortunate enough to be able to purchase an RV for Dave to live in until the construction is finished which will be in about eighteen months.  Jan is still on active duty at Ft. Polk in the northern part of the state.  Slidell was pretty much just wiped out like so many other communities close to the water.  I, too, hope habitat for Humanity can help those who cannot afford to rebuild so these victims can put their lives back together.  My prayers go out to all who lived through this horrific experience.
