Officials say Miners Retreated after the Blast

The miners heard the blast and they retreated deeper into the mine according to rescue workers. A miscommunication happened between the rescue workers and the public because the rescue workers were wearing oxygen masks and they did not know how the men were actually doing, or how far into the mine they had traveled.They communicated directly to the public before they actually found the men that they believed that the men were okay. This was not official communication; it was man to man cell phone communication. The men had tried to barricade themselves away from the gases but unfortunately the carbon monoxide killed them.

This was very upsetting to me. I thought they were alive and so did their families. I was shocked to find out they were dead.

This was such a sad tragic event. That there was mis-information concerning the number of survivors makes it that much harder to deal with. My heart goes out to this entire community and my prayers are with the families of those miners lost in this accident.
