Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,

Because their words had forked no lightning they

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright

Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,

And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,

Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Dylan Thomas

MOM

I wanted to write the perfect
poem for you.
But words aren't enough
for all you say and do
You were always there
through thick and thin
Not only my mom
but my best friend
Sometimes more love and support
than I truly deserved
Even when I was a brat
and disapointed you
You always had my back
thank you for that
I strive to be
Just half the mom
You are to me
If I never accomplish
a thing in this world
It would be okay
If my kids look back and say
that I am half the mom
you are today

I love you mom

I have two favourite poems, the first one is "When We Two Parted" by Lord Byron. You can find it posted in my journal.
The second one, i've no idea where i heard it, but i remember it and i'll share it with you here.

They little know they speak your name,
In careless praise or blame,
But like a hunted forest thing,
My heart leaps at your name.

Natalie,
I'm not that much into poetry, although I do enjoy a good poem.  In other words, I don't have a huge data base of poems in my head.  As a child, though, I do remember one of my all time favorites was, "The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow."

One of my favorites, is  "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou. (I like to think of it as my own theme song, lol.)

I also love the Yeats poem, "When You Are Old" --my favorite part is "How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the Pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...."

It's so fantastic, so romantic...sigh.
Thanks for the idea, I may post about it sometime. :)
