A 9/11 Navy Ship ! The New USS New York!

(I owe credit to Tendernoogle for this information.(Carlene)

The Navy has a new ship USS NewYork: it was made from twenty four tons of scrap steel from the WTC.

The USSNew York is 45% ready and it will be launched soon! (in 2007).

Steel from the WTC was melted down in a foundry in Amite,LA. to cast the bow of the ship.

The steelworkers treated the steel with total reverence.

Theri motto was:'Never Forget!'

What do you think about the ship? Are you impressed?

Do you think that a ship made of the same steel that burned down during the 9/11 attacks on New York will make the men psychologically feel more honored to serve on that ship?(more determined?

Please let us know.

TY!

Sounds like a great idea. Bear in mind, Nat, that some of the steel used in spacecraft is taken from German ships, scuttled after World War One. Why? Because the metal is NOT contaminated with nuclear fall-out, released after 1944 by the testing and actual use of nuclear weapons. This uncontaminated steel will not interfere with the extremely sensitive instruments used in space.

I think that's a really cool thing to do!  Carolyn

I THINK T WILL MAKE THE MEN MORE DETERMINED TO SEEK OUT ALL THE EVIL DOERS AND MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT THEY DID...WHICH WILL BE THE MAIN MISSION OF THE SHIP.

This is a great use of some of the girders from the World Trade Center. If nothing else it will help us all to remember that horrific day. I expect that ship to carry on a tradition of American zeal. I'm glad this was done. Regards, Bill.

I think the men that serve in our Navy are honored to serve on any ship, however, I do feel that serving on this ship will be more memorable for them.  I think it was a wonderful thing to do.  Now, if we can get the cremains back to the loved ones that are sitting in the landfill in Staten Island...

be well,
Dawn
