"Flags of Our Fathers" opens Friday

This movie is about the real life battle of Iwo Jima in 1945 from both American and Japanese perspectives. It is a tough war movie and I would like to know if youare going to go or rent it later.

Eastwood said making the movie taught him about character and war. What do you think? IS it worth your time?

Why or why not?

Absolutely worth my time. I really like Clint Eastwood directed movies. He seems to get into people's hearts.....as he's aged. My favorite one so far is "Bridges of Madison County." So many little messages in that movie. I can watch it over and over and see the nuances of the characters and see how lonliness, dreams, desires, hopes, responsibilities effect people in so many ways.
The one you mentioned above being real life, makes it even more interesting to want to see......if he sticks to reality and doesnt' go all Hollywood on it, it should be very good.

It looks like an interesting film depicting a moment in our U.S. history.

See now, that's a movie i'd like to see. I'm really quite interested in that time and read a good article in TIME magazine talking about the movie. But I'm certain I won't get around to seeing or renting it, i very rarely do. esp when i dont have anyone to go to the moives with!!!

Both my Father and my Uncle Ed were at Iwo Jima. It was a time that even in a war this was horrific event. The death, pain, and suffering that occurred brought out the best in many men and the worst in others. We can learn that war is bad, that it is death and terrible events and we can learn that humands weill sacrifice and show moral standing no matter what the situation. I think that everyone should see the movie, to learn and honor those who participated. I'll see it when it comes out on video. Regards, Bill.

I think any movie that shows our military in a positive light is a good thing.  It's tough to watch them though.  I saw Saving Private Ryan, and was extremely sad, but it was a fantastic movie anyway.  Any war movie that is true to life, even if it's got a little 'artistic licence', but remains a true story is worth watching.  Have a good rest of the week Nat!  Carolyn

Absolutely - It's so rare to see a movie that approaches a tough topic from an edgy perspective - bring it on, I say!
