All the research I have seen shows reading to your kids from an early age really helps.  Plus it is important to instill a love of reading in your children early so it can carry with them for life for it is a shame that so many kids don't like to read these days.

My kids grew up being read to. I read them everything from the Narnia books to Robin Hood. It makes their imagination flurrish. We chose when they were young not to have a tv.This was their way of being entertained.

I think reading to your kids, with you kids, around your kids or listening to them read are all wonderful things that do help them develop.  Creates some very close, warm times with them as well.  -  Barbara

Yes! I read Torah and other classices to my son as he grew up. We began reading the Chroncles of Narnia during the summer when he turned 12. We read all seven books each summer until he went into the Navy. And I give books to children as gifts. Next to love, a moral code, love of G-d, the best gift you can give a child is the gift of books, of reading.
