Compassion, Love , and Patience

Compassion, Love and Patience

I have dear friends here and I told them that there is nothing more important than love, followed by compassion in my opinion.

You can have "nothing" and be happy or you can have "the world on a string" and be happy if you have love.

Love is not proud and it is not impatient: it endures all hardships and it helps all people. Likewise love does not judge nor discriminate; it brings people together.

Compassion insists that we keep trying to see the other person and walk in her shoes a bit. It is true that even when you may not share all of your friend's beliefs a compassionate person will try to still be there for the other person in as much as they can. This does not mean that they do not have beliefs; but when these two are important to you they are key and other things have to follow.

Patience is key also becasue instead of getting the other person all riled up why not try to talk through it?

What am I saying? I'm saying that if you are loving and caring person and youare trying to help your freinds and family , all are wiht you. Who can be against you? not me.

Please write in your comments. Respectfully.

Somehow I knew you would go there. Love is the basis for caring and compassion. One who loves freely is always concerned about others be they friends or not. The direction I am going to take is to warn you and others not to over do it. Please keep in mind you can not "help" every one you know who might need a friend or help thru difficult times.  I know people like that who become so stressed in trying to reach everyone in their circle till they themselves need help and become bogged down in persuit of their goal. They inadvertantly began to ignore their own family and closest friends in this overburdened quest to reach out to others.

When the urge, obsession or whatever this above normal "attempted" compassion reaches the addictive stage the person has actually lost the real meaning of compassion, love and patience. People respond to genuinely expressed concern and after awhile that "work horse" type need to help others becomes less effective. We can love generally and express sincere concerns but when we "act" the part it is seen for what it is. An act of self engrandisement.

My life is based on love and forgiveness which allows a healthy portion of compassion and patience. I can love and respond to that normal compassionate stake within me even in the face of difficult or traumatic situations but I am not out looking for an act to perform to appease my need. Good thought provoking article.

Compassion is my top of the heap word for this society. I only wish most people not only had it but used it. You're right love is first though. Without love, you can't have compassion or any other positives.

I agree Nat. Compassion and patience are indeed necessary for building good relations, especially with those who would resist what is good and right and true about living and life. I am less compassionate and less patient when I attempt to deal with people on my own. I do seek guidance in this in the Book, and I think I'm getting better at seeking out what is good in people, even when what they do and how they live is contrary to my own beliefs. It's not just about tolerance, it is about showing mercy, forgiveness, love, and giving help where help is needed. You said it very well, Nat. Love Bea
