Babies: Should We Choose their Sex?

Babies: Should We Choose Their Sex?

Apparently some scientists in Mass. think so...hey are experimenting to find a way to let parents decide on the sex of their new baby. Do you think this is right? please leave a comment....

Personally I think it is very bad.

Actually, I thought they already were able to do this? Aren't fertilized embryos frozen & can't they be determined & then implanted? Maybe not but that doesn't seem to hard for me to figure they would be able to. Should they? Well, I suppose if you have had 6 girls already or 6 boys maybe you'd like the opposite? I know of one family had like 10 boys & finally had a girl. You know how everyone wants a namesake boy so...I'm also thinking there are some disorders which are genetically tied to more of boys than girls etc. Perhaps if a family has such a high chance of this disorder happening then maybe.

This just isn't right! Just my opinion though.

I know that this research is getting really close to being complete.  I for one wouldn't want to choose the sex of my child, but I do understand why some people want to.  I mean, think about it, if you already have 3 boys and you really wanted a girl and there was research that could guarantee it, would you use it?  It's a personal choice, there is no right or wrong answer.

I think that if a couple has like four girls and is really wanting a boy, then maybe it would work for them....I think it is really up to the parents in the end though.

Deborah...thank you! ...
Do you think we coudl ever have a position here similar to China or India where only girls are desired? that would be so sad!...love,natalie

I agree Nat.
As much as I would have loved to have had a girl, and would have been overjoyed to have heard that news, I would not take any of my sons back for anything in the entire world.
When we start getting involved in a process that has always been a divine gift ultimately revealed and bestowed at the precise moment of birthing, I think some of the mystical experience becomes lost within a scientific process. Hope that makes sense!

Well it's up to the parents Some really want a boy and a girl (which is what I will always hope for) but I would never CHOOSE my child's gender Regardless if someone gets the gender they wish for should not make the slightest difference

Maria

PS I always read entries here I can't always comment Some days I have over 500 emails, others over 700 LOL today I have 320 currently

So even if I don't comment, it doesn't mean I'm not reading your journal Nat :)

NO!!!! We shouldn't try to play God. It's going to backfire on us in the end!

I don't think it is ever okay to play with "nature". I feel like you have the baby you were meant to have. If you are supposed to have a boy-you will and if you are meant to have a girl-you will.  I really wanted a boy the first time a got pregnant but God blessed me with a beautiful girl. And I couldn't imagine my life without her.
