A Poem: An Ode to Israeli and Lebanese Mothers

Google posted these pictures under mothers.

Please note that I love people and this poem is merely a relfection of the sadness I feel for the families in between.

A Poem of Tribute: An Ode to Israeli and Lebanese Mothers

She watched

As bombs splintered

her world;

At the edge

Of dawn

The helicoptor

Stopped;

Her children

Rushed in;

Pathos:

Pathos and Chaos

Hermea and Claudius

A wrinkle

Removed

From a Sane World

Her Life is

A steeple chase;

She runs

Down the pathway

Of  Time; panting;

Will the children

Make it

On time?

She is eager

To avoid

Pandora's

box

As

The World

rushes past her.

The Kid Won at Ebay!

Google did the pcitures

Note: This entry is a followup on an older entry in which a child was fooled, unwittingly, by someone about some shoes he bought.)

The Kid Won at Ebay!

Horray!

I wanted to report that I now like Ebay more than ever because my neighbor's kid was able to get his money back on a purchase for shoes that were not what was stated on the site.

Ebay has a great tool called feedback which allows for custommers to redeem their purchases by complaining to the seller ont he site and requesting a refund. If the seller wants a good rep, then he will bounce and give the person the money back!

Cool!

Have you heard of this happening too?

Where do you like to shop and why?

Diplomacy is Sacrosanct

Diplomacy is Sacrosanct

My mother was a very interesting person. I don't think that she would have ever been able to see enough of the world for herself.

We had often international dinner discussions in which we would discuss a new country, tradition, political vibe or religion.

She always maintained that there could never be enough said about the wonders of diplomacy.

Occasionally we would tell her of some one who was "way out there" in thoughts or mannerisms. My mother would only smile and say"Respect him or her. Show tact and compassion for theri life. Stand in their shoes for awhile.You might learn something. You will feel better." Then she would smile softly.

What do you think about showing compassion, concern for others, no matter how different they are from you?

Also, what do you think people can do here in Jland to have better, deeper discussions on things that matter the most to them?

Level Playing Field

Level Playing Field

My parents and grandparents all believed in using the level playing field; in all meetings and especially in discussions. What is it about?

It's about having an environment where everyone's opinion is heard  and in equal amounts. Everyone's thoughts are given weight.

Clearly one has to give a certain time limit (or space limit) to the thoughts expressed equally and Robert's Rule of Order come to mind.

What is the point of the meeting?

The point of this meeting of the minds is to instill integrity and respect in the meeting. Everyone feels at home.

The second point is always to try to learn something new from the other side and to incorporate it into your own vision of the world.

A third point is that, since everyone is at ease and no one has anything to prove, one can gain ground as a group and one can reach conclusions that hereto have been hidden.

What do you think about a Level Playing Field?

Would you want this philosophy used when you had ametting to attend? why or why not?

My Favorite Things About Boston

My Favorite Things About Boston

(John Scalzi's assignment at Aol)

Boston is great because spirit and determination abound here! My most favorite thing about Boston is the fact that my good Jlander friend Monponsett lives in Cape Cod; a beautiful area near Boston and famous for great beach walks and great sea food!

(Check out Monponsett's blog High Above the Courtside:

http:journals.aol.com/monponsett/HighAboveCourtside/

 It's on John Scaliz's blogroll.)

My second favorite thing is the Boston Red Socks. They are awesome baseball players! I like their abominable snowman never-give-up attitude! They are wonderful to watch and Fenway Park is a great stadium!

I love the old part of Boston with its' beautiful architecture.

And I love the fact that Harvard Yard, MIT, Boston College and Boston University are here.

What do you think about Boston?

Oh and has anyone besides Jeanette seen Paul Revere's house? I adore Paul Revere! what a hero!

"The Storm is Out" a poem

The Storm is Out

A poem dedicated to Guido and his ship captains

by natalie

The storm is out

Weathering gales and waves

Pounce on land

And beat on

the port

The young man

lifts his sea light

tries to gather in

exhasted seamen

on the wake

Men tug; they wrestle

with their ropes;

hoping

beyond hope that

No loads are lost

No ships get tossed

beyond the gale

A solitary captain

His mooring lost

Is thrust about

Beyond the bridge

and beyond the bay;away

he drifts;

ashore

the young man

flashes his sea light;

he wishes

the captain could

secure his ropes

and tighten

his sails

once again

After Thoughts:

Please visit Pharmolo (Guido) at his journal sites.

New Orleans' Mayor Still Doesn't Offer  Residents a Plan

New York Times

June 18

(Note: The Mayor, Mr. Naigin, in the gentleman on the left and the Head of the City Council , Mr. Oliver Thomas,is the gentleman on the right.)

According to this editor, we do not need to wait to suffer anymore.New Orleans has received their allotment for billions of recovery dollars, but the Mayor refuses to set any plans on the table.

Mr. Thomas, the Head of the City Council, says that no actions for recovery can be taken until the Mayor jumps in...He is asking for teh Mayor to step up so that recovery building can begin.

The Mayor is refusing to do that.

What? ??? How can the city recover ?

Many things have to be repaired so people can live here!

What do you think?
