Moral Courage and Patriotism Popular Now In China

Moral Courage and Patriotism Popular now in China

If you haven't seen Hero, you have a treat coming! This movie reads like an old story, becasue it has many outcomes. It is riveting and moving and the acting is great, but wait, there's more!

Apparently, the hero of the movie is a guy who really places the well being of

his country and its' people above his own in a very true sense of the word!

People, it's good news that these values are also so important to Chinese people!

What comes to mind?

Perhaps there are more similarities between the Chinese and us than people may have presumed.  It would be nice to explore what we share in common rather than dwell upon our differences.

we as a people tend to be somewhat egocentric in this country . we are a very new republic compared to the antiquity of China

I am sorry, all that comes to my mind is that one of their generals recently threatened us with hundreds of nuclear bombs, with a first strike to destroy hundreds of our citys.  It was because they are worried we will interfere with their intent on taking over Taiwan.  I dont think they like us at all.  The courage and patriotism has a ring to it that reflects their dislike of Americans.  Like a team spirit, that is true!  But we are the opponents, the other team, in which the patriotism is against.  It basically shows, in my philisophical opinion only, that they, along with many other countries now, are simply tired of us playing world police, and it is scary that one day someone will indeed retaliate on a much larger scale that even 9-11 was.  That's scary!  The USA is not any more indestructible than any other country!  And when you come down to it, we are all just people, and we all have flaws and weaknesses!
Love,
Mariann
