Does Special Ed Fit in Kindergartens?

In Florida  a kindergarten polled her kindergartners ; asking them to tell everyone in teh class what they did not like about Alex, a child who suffers from Asperges Syndrome.
( Alex thought that this meant;" tell Alex what we hate about him".
The children voted by majority vote according to this teacher to have Alex expelled.
He was dismissed. He and his mother appeared on the news. She's devastated by the message. She's pursu9ng legal action.
What do you think about this?Do you think Alex needed a special education teacher possibly?
Please comment. thanks! nat

I don't know enough about that conditon, but what the teacher did wasn't right. However, if Alex was not capable of being mainstreamed without causing problems with the other students, then he should be put in special clases or a school that can handle his condition.

From what you are telling me, I'd say whoever led the children in this hostile exercise should be horse whipped!!!  The students in mass should be made aware as much as possible about Alex's condition and that he truly can't help it.  And they should be led to appologize and invite him back.  And yes, he needs someone there at the school to understand and direct him and those he interacts with.  This is appalling!  =  Barbara

I have a child in special ed. I do not want him classes with "normal " children. Children are mean. Our son has enough issues and the last thing he needs is for more people to pick on him.
