David Ramsey worked really hard. He amassed a great deal of money; becoming a millionaire after some time. He had grown up with out all of the extra things he thought he could afford so he plunged himself and his family into huge debt.
One bright morning he woke up and he tore up all of his credit cards. He signed on with a debt consolidation company, and even though it was no picnic he worked himself out of the debt and now he is doing okay again!
Now Ramsey hosts a national radio show and he has a video about how to get rid of your debt and start saving for yourself and your family.
Now people can start a group in their community rec center or their temple or church and help people get out of debt too with Ramsey's dvd.

As a young person (like so many) I didn't think about saving, emergencies, growing old.
As a older person, I wish I had!
I only have 1 credit card, for emerg use only. People need to start paying with cash agin (or debit) & get out of debt, they'll be glad they did. The rates on those cards are outrageous!

There are to many Americans just getting by. Yes, we are a country of spender and so many people are in debt. We have a little debt, but we are trying to get rid of that and then that is where we are going to stay!

Well that is something all people should eventually shot for, but being in grad school, I expect to be in debt for a long time.
I dont' have enough money to save...by the end of the month I Don't' have a penny in my bank account

Hi Nat- I've never had a credit card, and I don't want one either. My husband's job is near no work right now, and if it weren't for God's help and our saving when times were better- we'd be in big trouble. When he brings home the pacheck every week- no matter how small, I put the bill money away, some small cash stash for the week, and the rest- not much but every little bit helps- gows into the bank. We aren't rich by money means- but always have just enough and live within what we can afford. My son has seen me have to return things at the grocerystore checkout if I'm short on money- but I hope it teaches him to never go over what is affordable and not be in debt. God Bless ! Carolyn
