Bristol Bay is one of the spawning grounds for salmon. It also is the home of tons of gold.

Goof to see you posting Nat! You would think we know today how to do such as that without harming or destroying the wildlife and area. If they do it, they should exercise every precaution. I can tell you two things I'm not doing; salmon fishing in Alaska or gold mining anywhere! - Barbara
My line on all matters arctic, likewise antarctic: leave alone.
I'm torn on this subject. I see the need for the money, however I hate what it would do to the enviroment.

I think we should leave it alone. It is only gold. If we ruin the area for the fish then what will happen?

If they take her time and are careful with it and pay attention to the environment then I don't have a problem with it, but I doubt they will be so I don't think it would be a good idea.
Mine it, and let the caribou run around somewhere else for a generation....and use the gold to make me a nice bracelet.
