Ode to the Knight
The knight
was daunted;
his chess pieces
thwarted/
across the floor
He looked to
the ceiling
An angels'
repose
gave inkling
(Nerves' sinue)
to battle
once more
Not for self...
Not for country...
(he was dying)...
No.
But for mankind
And womankind
He threw open
the doors...
Found against
Prejudice
and Ignorance
his Rook
And his Pawn
Became Knights!
Valor grew
And honor shone
When this knight lifted
His sword

Clever and imaginative... I smiled. I haven't played chess in awhile, as it is a clever man's game, and I am not a clever man. <grin> bea
That was neat Nat. I know I've told you before, that I really don't understand poetry very well- but I read this one because I'm teaching my guy about King Arthur and his round table! Sorry- I think (?) this is about the knights in a chess game- I really am dense when it comes to poetry!! SORRY!!!! Love Carolyn :)
Very nice! My son & gkids play chess but I never could get the hang of it. :)
