9/11 : Blog Your Thoughts About 9/11-Scalzi's assignment

It was a maddening event; I recall watching the news as it came about. Newscasters did not know what they were seeing ; in fact, they struggled with the images themselves; running playbacks of the event as the world watched.

I remember that deep sadness in my gut and heart just knowing that all of the people in the building and all of the people in the airplanes were entering an inferno; but not one of their own creation. In fact, one of the most horrible facts of the events that unfolded was that these people were innocent of any wrong done and yet they were suffering untold amounts of injuries and deaths for an unseen hostile enemy.The heroes who tried to save these people are still my heroes and they always will be. They sacrificed their lives trying to save so many people. The people on the ground who helped people are also my heroes and we have a Jlander among them...WFHBear.

This was in no way the end of the horror; we had the other  acts unfolding after this one.

Many innocent children saw a part of the replay; because parents never dreamed that the six o'clock news would show these horrible films when most families sat down to dinner. In this case the news were the source of trauma to them.

2996 Project for 911 Victims:Honoring Pamela Chu

Pamela Chu lived in New York and she worked at Cater Fitzgerald at the World Trade Center. She was 31 years old.

Ms. Chu was the Vice President of a U.S. equities trader. She was the only Asian in her department and the only female trader but she never let herself get stressed out.

She was born in Korea, but her family moved to the U.S. when she was two years old. She graduated from the University of Buffalo and she worked as a clerk for Cantor Fitzgerald before she became an equities trader.

I learned alot about Ms. Chu by researching her name through the 2996 project; which seeks to honor 911 victims by having people journal about a person.

My deepest sympathies go out to her family and associates. Clearly she was a wonderful woman and worthy of much respect.

Mark's journal is interesting and covers things that happen in his life and his responses. He is a "deep" person and fun to communicate with.He is interested in science and inquiry; yet he's also interested in our spirit and our spiritual life.

Mark has a number of problems with his back and his legs that give him enromous pain and discomfort with walking and lying down. One of the very frustrating things he mentioned to me was that he has to lie down in an awkward fashion in order to give healing and rest to his spine which needs that rest  in order to heal.

He is used to being very active as a contractor and a landscape architect so it is quite an adjustment. Mark is interesting and vivacious. He is also an artist and a photographer.

Comment on Growth Hormones and Their Use for Short Children

Some children are very short. They complain to their parents that they are picked on and that theyare being called shorty. Some parents ahve opted to inject their children with growth hormones to give their children some height. They think that they can buy their child abetter life wiht injections, according to a leading bioethicist.

These hormones can cause : headaches, scoliosis, and ahost of other health concerns. It appears to cost $50,000 approximately to gain one inch! Wow!

For 4 inches of growth, it takes $200,000 .

Is this a good idea for the children do you think? Is it ethical?

The world renouwn naturalist, Steve Irwin, passed away suddenly after he was attacked by a sting ray at the age of 44. He was on top of the sting ray and apparently he apeared suddenly; so the sting rang stuck a barb into his heart.Sting rays normally don't attack humans; unless they perceive us as a threat.

Steve irwin is survived by a wife adn two young children. He and his wife were known as the best wildlife crusaders in the world according to Australian  journalists. The Prime Minister went on the television; saying what a wonderful man Steve Irwin was for Australia. Australians are mourning their huge loss and they are in shock.The Australians are leaving flowers at the zoo in Ausralia in Queensland where the Irwins have contributed so much of their time.
